Tourists are attracted to this area by its natural heritage which includes amazing scenery, mountains, Alpine lakes, forests and villages dotted along the valley. You can go on organized tours, go mountain climbing, water-rafting and take part in many other Alpine sports. However, even its history makes this area unique. The valley was already inhabited in Neolithic times. There are engravings in the rock, lithic tools and earthenware. Historians say that the inhabitants of this valley were the Ligurians however when the Romans came they discovered Celts living there.

Three castles in the area date from medieval times: Torre Pellice Fort, San Michele Fort and Bricherasio in Luserna. However, what really makes this area of Italy difference can be attributed to the presence of the Waldensians whose influence has permeated its history and culture.
